NANO open LAB -5104

The NANO-open LAB is situated in room 5104 in Ole-Johan Dahls hus, the IfI building. It is a lab open to staff and master student associated with the Department of Informatics. The NANO-group provides this resource to the benefit of the Department.

Rules

For the lab to run smoothly and to be of benefit of all the users rules have to be followed to be allowed access to the facilities. These rules are available in the lab and here.

Reservations

You need to reserve a seat to use the lab. Send a mail to the engineer olavky@ifi.uio.no If it is the first time you are using the lab make time to see the engineer or another member of staff to get a some conduct and safety instructions. There are 7 seats with slightly different functions that you can choose from in this lab. A map can be found in the lab and here:

A

Soldering station for basic soldering of through hole components. A lens is also available to ease the work.

B

Soldering station for basic soldering of through hole components and oven for soldering SMD components. A lens is also available to ease the work.

C

Measuring station with Linux computer with installed GPIB card available. Instruments will be set up as needed.

D

Measuring station with Windows computer available. Instruments will be set up as needed.

E

Measuring station with computers with Windows and Linux available. Instruments will be set up as needed.

F

Pick and place station. For placement of tiny objects, typically for placing SMD components on a PCB.

G

MICROSCOPE for looking at tiny things.

H

REFRIGERATOR. Soldering paste, epoxies and other materials that can corrode or get a shorter life span if left in room temperature.
DO NOT STORE FOOD IN HERE. The content of this fridge is in various degrees unhealthy. There is not supposed to be any food in the labs, not in the fridge either.
