Readying a design for milling is done with the program CircuitCam.

The procedure with the Wizard in CircuitCam

  • Log on to the windows-server mikrocad. Start the program, a shortcut should be present on the Desktop.
  • Press on the wizard-icon as shown in the picture below

  • Follow the instructions and import the layers TOP.art, BOTTOM.art, and the nc-drill-file *.drl generated by Cadence SPB.
    • If you have used another tool to make the PCB, the layers will most likely have other names.
  • When all the three layers are imported in a correct manner, you should define the contour routing. If the design contains a defined Board Outline, the contour routing will automatically be placed right. If not do the following:
    • Choose Graphics Mode
    • From the top most drop down menu to the left, choose BoardOutline
    • Choose Insert->Closed Path, and draw a frame around the design.
    • Press again on the wizard icon
  • You can now observe that the contour routing will be correct placed around the design.
  • The next step is to isolate the wires, or the leading paths. Here you can choose if you wish to remove all the excess copper. Otherwise use standard settings if nothing else is required.
  • The last step is to make the two files *.cam and *.lmd. *.cam is the file format of the CircuitCam software, while *.lmd is the file that is used by the PCB miller.
  • Choose LpkfCircuitBoardPlotter as the export JOB
  • But the two files on a memory stick and contact Olav to mill the PCB.
